When picking out fruits to eat, we often go for the ones that look aesthetically pleasing and are absent of bruising, discoloration, and marking. The reality of this though, is that such “perfect” fruits are mostly achieved through the use of GMO. For our overall wellbeing, I believe that it is better to avoid these “perfect” fruits and to instead eat the organic fruits that may not be the most pleasant to look at, but are mostly GMO free. This piece reflects this sentiment by placing the bruised organic fruit at the focal point, while the “perfect” fruits reside in the mirrors as mere imitations of the real thing.
